Earthy and Elegant: Christina and Michelle’s Autumn Wedding

Love knows no boundaries, and that was especially true on Christina and Michelle’s fairytale wedding day. We were overjoyed to plan with this couple and to work with them to take their vision from paper to reality.

Neoclassical Meets Organic and Whimsical

This event took place at Felina Ridgewood. Felina is one of the most celebrated venues in New Jersey and the greater NYC area, and we were delighted to collaborate with the Landmark Venues team.

We learned a few things nearly on day one of planning: Christina and Michelle have immaculate taste, they wanted every detail on their wedding day to have love and thought behind it, and the goal was to (somehow) make this stately venue earthy.

Inspiration & Design

We enjoyed every minute of planning the aesthetic and flow for this celebration. When it came to design, juxtaposition was the first thing that came to mind. We drew inspiration from the looks of abandoned mansions and the idea of Mother Nature reclaiming an old regal bank.

The final look wouldn’t have been possible without Made of Leaves. Meghan Kramer collaborated with us to develop a fully custom look and co-created the tablescape design. This scheme featured sprawling vines across the venue’s banisters, towering “trees” as centerpieces, and a variety of textures and colors to create warmth and an enchanted garden look.

The Details

Nothing makes us happier than when a couple weaves their personality into their wedding day details. We were thrilled that not only was that the case, but that other one-of-a-kind customizations were incorporated along the way.

Every first look is special, but we especially loved this back-to-back moment.

Seating in Bloom

We won’t soon get over the blooming seating concept at this celebration. In addition to the oversized vases to direct guests to their tables, we loved adding stacks of books.

Fun Fact: This couple loves to read.

They hand-chose over thirty of their favorite books to display.

A First Dance to Remember

We worked with these two brides to time their first look during the end of their reception’s pre-dinner cocktail reception. They surprised all of their guests by having their first dance with the floor below all to themselves.

A Passion Project

There is nothing like creating an experience that has both style and heartfelt meaning behind it. In lieu of traditional favors, we worked with the couple and Woops Bakery to incorporate a rainbow of authentic French macarons at every table.

Our team designed tags from Minted and custom QR codes to communicate the sweetest part: a gateway to support The Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mental health and crisis intervention for LGBTQ+ youth. Prior to their big day, the couple placed a donation to The Trevor Project on behalf of all of their attending family and friends.

The tags encouraged guests to place an additional donation if they wished and also communicated the initial contribution. The additional amount pledged to the Trevor Project that evening was nothing short of moving.

Personalized Elegance

We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed creating the aesthetic and experience for this wedding celebration. From the customized oval dinner menus, olive green linen napkins, to the textured bud vases and lanterns, personal touches and funky details were woven throughout.
